Welcome! My name is Viviane Gomis. I am a Jewellery and Accessories Designer. I create Afro Chic one of a kind items for fashion conscious women looking for exclusive, vibrant and edgy statement pieces that reflect their individuality and allow them to express it every day.

With my mother being a seamstress, art and fashion have always been part of my life. From a very young age, I was constantly surrounded by fabric, buttons and other little interesting things and I grew up enjoying making things out of them. My mom used to say that I could open up a market stall with the amount of things I collected. I guess this habit stayed and turned into a passion for creating!

Having studied Arts Appliqués at the specialist Lycée Marie-Curie in Marseilles, France, I moved to London and went on to qualify with a BA Hons in Graphic Design & Image Making.

I started making jewellery by recycling findings, using antique elements and breathing life into lost & forgotten items. Over the years, I have kept this concept and until this day, one can still find some “up-cycled” elements in my work.

The core material in my creations is the versatile Dutch Wax or African Ankara fabric. Once exclusive to African wear, it has now been adorned on the catwalks of major designers, such as Stella McCartney, Miu Miu, Burberry and many more.
